Meet the Team

Want to get to know us better? Learn more below about Susan Duroe and Madeline Van Dee, and their extensive experience in canine care, including training, grooming, veterinary work, rescue and boarding.

  • With 17 years in the pet industry, my passion for animals has always guided me. I spent 12 of those years as a groomer, where I learned a great deal about different breeds and temperaments. My goal was always to make the experience a pleasant one, and that's where my passion for helping dogs truly began.

After retiring from grooming due to an injury, I started working in animal rescue. This experience strengthened my desire to help dogs overcome past trauma. For the past two years, I've focused on service dog training, in addition to general obedience.

My personal experience as a dog owner and trainer has also been a huge part of my journey. I've trained my own six dogs—three Border Collies, two Shih Tzus, and a German Shorthaired Pointer —in recreational agility and obedience. Through these experiences, I've learned that training is one of the best ways to build an unbreakable bond. I'd love to help you and your dog develop that same close relationship.

  • From my first day in the animal industry at local veterinary clinic in 2020, I saw firsthand how many dogs struggled with fear, anxiety, and just a lack of confidence in our human world. This inspired me to learn more about canine behavior. In 2022, I pursued my calling by dedicating myself to a canine training internship. Since completion, I have been helping all kinds of dogs—from house pets to service dogs, therapy dogs, and even farm dogs.

My two Siberian Huskies, one a seasoned 10-year-old and the other a lively one-year-old, are my greatest teachers. They have shown me the importance of exercise and breed-specific enrichment. We’ve trained in obedience, and dog sports including weight pulling, sled pulling, bikejoring and canicross. Through these experiences, I’ve found a deep passion for helping dogs thrive by doing what they were bred to do.

I am so excited to continue working with dogs in our community. I would love to help you achieve your goals, whether that's a well-behaved pet, a competitive sport dog, a dedicated service dog or a trusted farm hand.

Our Story

The story of Adel Canine Campus began in 2024 with a shared passion between two friends, Susan Duroe and Madeline Van Dee. We met while working at a local dog training and boarding facility that had partnered with a service dog foundation for veterans. After years of working at and visiting different animal care facilities, we saw a need for something better. That's why we started Adel Canine Campus—to create a place where you can feel completely confident that your dog is happy, safe, and learning in a cleanly and enriching environment. We're committed to delivering comprehensive training that truly works for you and your dog.

We officially opened our doors for private, one-on-one training sessions in September 2025 as we put the finishing touches on our facility. Our grand opening is just around the corner, and we can't wait to welcome you to our fully renovated campus and introduce our new Day Academy and group classes!
